Finding My Niche

Merry Christmas (a few days late)!  I hope everyone had a very wonderful Christmas.  I know that I did!  I am happy to say that pretty much everything from my Wish List was received, including a heart-rate monitor.

Earlier this week a high school friend asked what I wanted for Christmas I listed off a few things... new running shoes, heart-rate monitor, etc.  She gave me an odd look after the heart-rate monitor was named.  She asked if I was concerned about my heart.  I gave her a confused look and explained it that it helps me know how hard and well my heart is working as I work out so I know how many calories I'm burning and if I am working out efficiently.  She had never hear of it before.  It showed me how at home I am in my niche of people and interest.  I am living in a bubble of health and fitness related blogs.  I read fitness magazines and know my heart the hours of the gym.  I can pretty much track calories in my head but I know recording them is so much more beneficial for me.  I am living in a bubble of Greek yogurt, spaghetti squash, organic milk, oatmeal, Meatless Mondays, etc.  I LOVE LIVING IN THIS BUBBLE!

Do you ever feel like you're living in such a bubble?

Merry Christmas Meredith! It definitely sounds like you have found your niche. I feel that way too, particularly when I talk about green monsters with my friends. Their looks of horror make me feel like I'm in a bubble, haha.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

I definitely feel that way sometimes. People look at me like I am nuts when I say I need to be home early, to wake up at 5 AM to run.

I do feel like it is a bubble...lots of my friends don't care about working out or do it, so blogs are how I get my fix. :)

I like the bubble because it gives you an opportunity to share your knowledge with others. You never know who might benefit. Glad you had a great holiday!

Yeah our family doesn't share our fitness level and so at holiday time they asked questions and you could hear a pin drop as we told them about our running and nutrition. They all at the same time went into this glazed over look of shock. It was pretty funny! Like crickets when we said we eat very little meat, nothing fried, very little cheese, lots of veggies, etc. LOL :)

I completely and totally understand. People look at me weird when I photograph food because I've become a bit of a food blogger. They think I'm completely obsessed...

Absolutely! My friends have kind of gotten used to my "weird" foods (according to THEM weird...but greek yogurt and quinoa aren't weird to me!), but I love it. I REALLY love showing them new foods and workouts and seeing them be pleasantly surprised. NOT that I am an "expert" by any means...but it's just fun to try and share new things!
